Willis Wataffi of Afrika Revenge fame makes a musical comeback at HIFA 2009. He will perform a single show on Sunday 3rd May with three upcoming Zimbabwean artists Sharon Kambole (vocals), Carmen Hwarari (mbira, shakers and vocals) and Wonder Pinchisi (keyboards, vocals and percussion).
Willis Wataffi split with partner Mehluli "Taz" Moyo several years ago. The duo, known as Afrika Revenge, came together in 2000 in Bulawayo. Their first album was titled Sibemunye and was a fusion of Kwaito Music from South Africa and House. They later moved to Harare and changed their music style to something they called Qaya Music, a fusion of Afro jazz and other music styles. Just as they were moving into mainstream Zimbabwean music and making international inroads, differences surfaced between the two. They finally decided to split up and last performed together in 2006.
