| Students Delight at Shakespeare Jamboree |

It was laughter and more laughter as students from sixteen schools around Zimbabwe enacted creative and humorous excerpts from some of Shakespeare’s most loved plays on Saturday 3 October 2009.
^ Opening led by girls from Nketa School in Bulawayo.
^ Left: St Bernards School from Bulawayo and Eaglesvale of Harare teamed up for an excerpt from Macbeth. Right: Malvolio from Twelfth Night, played by a student from Chisipite Girls High, gets high on Castle. Other excerpts of Macbeth were done by St Columbus of Bulawayo and Kriste Mambo from Mutare. Berejena High (Masvingo) did another excerpt from Twelfth Night.
^ A Midsummer Night's Dream by St George's College (Harare) got a lot of laughs.
^ Julius Caesar is dead. Led by Mutare Boys High.
^ Hillcrest College (Mutare) gave the audience a piece from Hamlet.
^ Elaborately Hamlet- Victoria High School (Masvingo).
^ The full cast. Different excerpts from Romeo and Juliet were performed by Regina Mundi (Gweru), Fletcher High along with Pakame (both from Gweru) and Pamushana High (Masvingo). Linking scenes were done by Pakame (Gweru) and Nketa (Bulawayo). The play was narrated by Everson Ndlovu. The Jamboree was organised by the British Council as part of its celebrations to mark 75 years of cultural relations. It was held on the grounds of the Dance Trust of Zimbabwe/ National Ballet premises on a stage specially constructed for the day. :: More about the Shakespeare Jamboree Share this page... |
