The 120th edition of Africa’s most famous – and most fashionable – horse race, the Vodacom Durban July, took place on Sunday, July 6, and Zimbabwe was represented by a host of stylish personalities who included Radio presenter, Ruvheneko Parirenyatwa, reality tv star, Pokello Nare, and fashionistas Mbo Mahocs and Gilmore Tee.

The Durban July has become more famous for its fashion than its actual reason for being – the horse races. This year was no different as celebrities jostled for camera attention on the red carpet.

The tweets were hot, fierce and stylish as they streamed out on an uncharacteristically chilly July Sunday in Durban. The Zimbabweans were dressed to slay and totally knocked this one out of the ball park – or, in this case, the racecourse.

They tweeted the pictures below – and others – as they mingled with the who’s who of South African business and pop culture.

DJ Zinhle, Mafikizolo, Pearl Modiade, Bonang Matheba and Thuli Phongolo were some of the South African celebrities who strutted their stuff on the famous Durban July red carpet.

Meanwhile, Zimbabwean designer, Thembani Mubochwa, came second in the Classic Racewear Male category of the annual fashion competition. First was South Africa’s Martin Steenkamp. This was the third year in a row that Mubochwa has featured on the winner’s list. Last year he came first and in 2014 was third.

Gilmore, just so you know, was dressed by Mubochwa for this year’s Durban July.
