The Culture Fund on November 24, 2015 hosted the launch of the book “Status of Women in the Arts and Culture Sector”. The launch was attended by arts and culture stakeholders including the Swedish Embassy.

The book was informed by interviews with female artists and provides an evidence-based analysis of the contribution sex and gender has to one’s success in the arts and culture industry.

Speakers at the event included Edith WeUtonga the afro-jazz bass player, Jesesi Mungoshi the actress and producer famous for playing the role of Neria, and poet and writer Shumirai Mugombi-Nanhanga.

The Culture Fund Director, Farai Mupfunya, thanked all the stakeholders for their contributions including the Board of Trustees, the International Development Corporation and other donors who helped the make the dreams of so many come true.

Maria Selin, head of the Development Cooperation (SIDA) officially launched the book and re-iterated her country’s support for gender equality and the arts and culture.
