Sylent Nqo lives by anything other than a silent status quo. His life is about sound. Last night his melodious guitar vibes reverberated over 7 times along with Reverb 7 himself, and Jam Signal’s Osborne Matengenzara at Pariah State Avondale.

The bar was packed, and the diverse audience grooved along to his acoustic mastery. Each pluck of his guitar string was as poignant as plucking a plump and properly prepped chicken, hitting the perfect angle and note with ease, grace and excitement that climaxed into a meal of musical pleasure.

“He’ll be playing at Pariah once a month” commented Pariah state owner,Matt Austen. Lovers of guitar, Toni Braxton may be out of a job because that Spanish guitar has officially been replaced by Zimbo strings.
Playing a range of songs from Justin Bieber’s ‘Sorry’ to ‘Africa’ to some Beatenburg vibes, he kept the audience guessing and grooving. You know those i’ll-stay-in-my-chair-but-dance-like-crazy-type-moves, yeah those ones, that’s what people were doing for the first hour of the performance.

The combination of Sylent and Osborne was electrical. Guitar vibes blended with Osborne’s ‘saxy’ wind instrument winded the audience as they gasped at the perfect fusion.

Funny story, those sit-down-and-dance-in-your-chair people stood up and went into full on gyrations as soon as Sylent started playing “Naija” beats. People suddenly thought they were part of a dance ‘Collabo’ with Don Jazzy and P Square as the band played that song in the background.

Even Brenda Fassie was resurrected from the dead, as  a ‘Weekend Special’ acoustic version tried to make people forget it was Thursday. Seriously Sylent, will you write a letter to my boss explaining my lateness on Friday?

Ironically, just as I was thinking about salvaging a bad work situation by leaving, as I stepped closer to the exit steps, I hear “Ma problems ESE disappear” the Winky D song…seriously, this is sabotage, the rest of the crowd must not have had to wake up early. Oh well, let the weekend begin.

Tonight, Jam signal will be playing…I suppose we must all sacrifice ourselves in the name of good music and show up to the show.
