One of Zimbabwe’s rising poets, SoProfound, is pushing his own boundaries and is set to record his debut project, ‘Pages from My Heart’ on May 29 at The Venue in Avondale, Harare.
When I first met her, she was staging an emotionally packed poetic performance that gripped my attention till she uttered her last word. After she was done, the whole auditorium thundered in applause, appreciating her classical display, and the master of the poetry slam said, "....give it up one more time for Flowchyld!" She indeed was flowing in simple verbs and adjectives, but the way she had them all arranged made me believe it was a language from the gods.
Batsirai Chigama has a gift for words. They come together in her head in poetic ways that language teachers cannot have taught her, but that only drops of magical divine gifting must have made possible.
Ghanaian spoken word artist, Crystal Tetty will this year perform at the 2014 Intwasa Arts Festival.
