There has been a lot of debate over who is the real king of Zim Hip Hop and though fans have failed to agree on the ultimate winner, names such as Takura, Stunner, and Junior Brown, to name just a few frequently make the list.

However, on Saturday evening at the Impala Car Rental 10 year bash, another player in the genre proved that he had what it takes to contest for the crown as he put up a stellar performance that got the over 4000 fans in attendance to jump, scream and sing along to his vibe.

This is none other than, Ti Gonzi.

Coming on after a superb act from Jah Prayzah, one would have thought it was going to be a difficult task for the youngster to match the standard set by the ‘Goto’ hit maker but alas, Gonzi took things a notch higher and got fans ready for the headline act, Cassper Nyovest who came on immediately after him.

“The feeling I had on that big stage on Saturday was great. I mean coming on stage after Jah Prayzah and I still managed to maintain the momentum the show had gathered and later leaving the stage for Cassper was a dope experience,” said Ti Gonzi.

On whether he was feeling nervous about going on stage after Jah Prayzah and he said, “I always expect to move crowds because I have been in this for long, close to a decade now, nine years to be precise.

“People around me have made me believe in myself so much because they have got my back and they have made me believe how gifted I am.

“Besides that, I am always hungry to display what I have, most times I get sabotaged but I always try my best and I know what I am capable of

“I thank the promoter for believing in me that much.”

Moving on, the cocky sounding Gonzi revealed that he is the saviour of Zim Hip Hop and is ready to take the genre to a whole new level.

“People who say hip hop has no audience are right in that the best level it has reaches is only playing on radio and failing to be played by individuals on a larger scale.

“Hip Hop has not made it commercially and I’m part of the reason why it’s vastly growing starting from the ghetto.

“I am the savior of Zim Hip Hop, I am gonna set an example on how good music should sound,” reveled the ‘Zvenyu’ hit maker.

The rapper also highlighted that he will be dropping an album this October.

“This year I am doing a 12 track album titled ‘Best Mero’.This came after scooping the Best Male award in 2016 at the Zim HipHop Awards.

“The album will come with influences of rap, pop, afro-jazz, dancehall and r’n’b.

“It’s dropping early October with over five brand new videos shot,” said the 24 year old.
