Zimbabwe’s top models Tholakele Dlamini and Tinotenda Chinyani majestically walked the runway at the recently held African Fashion International (AFI)’s Mercedes Benz Fashion Week.

A mixture of young and seasoned designers showcased exclusive Spring-Summer collections at the prestigious event which commenced on Wednesday, August 10 and concluded on Sunday, August 14 in Johannesburg, South Africa.

This year’s line-up comprised of fashion icon David Tlale, BeachCult, Bulbulia, Chesney Williams, Haute Baso, Irmgard Mkhabela, Leigh Schubert, MaXhosa by Laduma, Marianne Fassler, NN Vintage, Rich Mnisi, Ruff Tung, Shana – JHB , Scalo Designs, Sibusiso ‘Buda’ Malete, Stefania Morland, Sterns Bridal Showcase, Tayla Shan Nguskos, and Xipixi by António Macheve Jr.

The Zimbabwean pair Tholakele Dlamini and Tinotenda Chinyani impressed as they took to the runway alongside some of the seasoned models like Alice Roland Musukwa (Zambia), Kwen Maye (Nigeria) and Jadot Kab (Congo).

Dlamini, an award winning model, proved her prowess as she magnificently strutted down the runway in enticing collections by David Tlale, Marianne Fassler, Haute Baso, Mina Evans, and NN Vintage.

Chinyani admirably walked the runway in amazing collections by Sheria Ngowi, Richi Mnisi, Maxhosa by Laduma, Irmgard Mkhabela, Duke, and Xipixi by António Macheve Jr.

An exclusive all-star appearance on the runway involving former Big Brother Africa housemate  Babalwa Mneno, Idols SA judge Somizi Mhlongo, musical artist Thembi Seete, and Hip Hop sensation Riky Rick impressed the audience.

African Fashion international (AFI) was established as part of an explicit determination to drive and restore refined African fashion brands on the global stage. Mercedes Benz Fashion Week is considered the perfect fusion between Africa and South Africa’s leading fashion retail space and the continent’s premier fashion event.

Tholakele Dlamini started modelling in 2009 and got her breakthrough in 2010 after taking part in the Face of Africa competition held in Nigeria. She has shared the ramp with world-renowned models such as Naomi Campbell and Ajuma Nasenyana.

Tinotenda Chinyani is a model signed with Boss Models. He won Mr. Monash 2014 and was featured in Queen Vee’s ‘Thirsty’ video in 2015.
