Internationally acclaimed and UK based Zimbabwean Video Director Tatenda Jamera, is set to conduct multiple workshops at various locations in and around Harare throughout the month of September. 

The goal of the workshop is to educate and impart knowledge on the Zimbabwean film industry. Ten aspiring video and film students have been selected to participate in the inaugural workshops which will include shooting videos for prominent local artists including Simba Tags, Shasha, Jam Signal and many others.

The launch of the workshops will be held at Blind Faith Studio in Harare on the August 27,  from 11:30am to 2:30pm. Jamera has partnered with several music labels including Blind Faith Publishing, Kamikaze Entertainment and Grammy-winning producer Brian Soko’s  Anashe Media Group to bring this project to life.

This collective has partnered with Harare-based Media Matrix, a premier video production company supplying state of the art equipment for the workshops. The workshop will feature Zimbabwe’s finest film makers including, Aaron Mheta, Andy Cutta, Denise Edwards, Chris Shoca, Philo, Zash Chinhara and Gwinyayi Mabika who will be co-directing with Jamera.

The month-long initiative is geared towards knowledge transfer, promoting Zimbabwean artists and film makers across Africa as well as creating employment for supporting staff that will be hired locally, such as models, stylists, make -up artists and caterers.

Jamera shared, “I am thrilled to be in Harare working with my peers in the film industry, I believe our Zimbabwean artists and music can compete internationally. We are excited to create amazing visual stories with some of our top local artists, thank you to everyone involved.”

Jamera is best known for his exceptional lighting design work on music videos for Nicki Minaj ‘Freedom’, Mary J Blige ‘Right Now’and is highly regarded in Nigeria directing music videos for Afro music stars Lola Rae, Iyanya, Tiwa Savage and Sean Tizzle.- Article by Chenai Ndoro
