After spending time in the terraces, the Zimbabwean film industry is finally joining the action. This is after Zollywood Limited, Zimbabwe’s own version of Hollywood signed a deal with Vox Africa.

This 24 months contract will see Zimbabwean movies and music videos being aired every last Saturday of the month at 2100hrs across a viewership of over 100 million households in three continents (USA, Africa and Europe). Indeed, this is good news for the Zimbabweans living in the diaspora.

Zollywood Director, Tony Mliswa, is adamant that this opportunity will surely go a long way in the promotion of Zimbabwean talent and content.

‘‘With such huge talent in Zimbabwe we should reach out to a huge and different audience, it’s great to be well known back in Zimbabwe but the world is a huge oyster and we need to explore it.”

“They are really good films being made by Zimbabweans in Zimbabwe and Zimbabweans overseas and we need to get these movies out there if we are really going to grow as a film industry and become a force to be reckoned with.

We will be connecting with an audience we would never have reached. Vox Africa has that platform to reach out to a greater audience in the Europe, Africa and America simultaneously. They do have great coverage and it’s a fantastic opportunity for us to explore” he added.

The package will also feature a music show that is going to be aired just before the movie. This arrangement was made possible by a partnership between Zollywood, Stageworks and the Zimbabwe Music Industry. Titled ‘Ezeecast’, the music show will be hosted by U.K. based Zimbabwean Tawanda Sibotshiwe who is also affectionately known as Jusa.

‘Zollywood Movies’ and ‘Ezeecast Show’ will be launching on October 29, 2016 at 2100hrs on Vox Africa Sky 218 in the U.K. Vox Africa also airs on Dstv191 and Gotv 16 in Africa in the following countries: Nigeria, Ghana Uganda, Kenya, Congo, Uganda and Equatorial Guinea.
