Week after week his social media platforms are awash with amazing images of people and places he photographs.

Most of these pictures are those of beautiful,  ladies that bring relevance to the Psalm which says, “…fearfully and wonderfully made.”

We have also noticed that a lot of young photographers are also doing the same. Nowadays, some are even taking images of semi-naked ladies, for the fun of it they say – not Gideon Gidds!  He strictly aims to get the perfect angle and create the best image of his female clients.

But just how does he keep it professional during or even after a one on one session with a pretty damsel with butter tender skin?

“Well, I try to focus much on creating images, that way I’m too occupied to leave room for anything else. I always keep mind the saying that an idle mind is the devil’s workshop,” said Gidds.

We have heard and read stories of photographers dating their clients, but Gidds insists he is not in that league.

“I’ve never gotten into a relationship with a client. I try as much as possible to keep it just a client – photographer relationship. Though I get tempted on numerous occasions, I just have to remind myself why I’m here, and learn self-control,” he confessed.

Enough of the naughty chat, we also got to know how the lad’s photography journey started.

“I just admire the beauty of God’s creation, and I go on to create art out of it. I’ve been in the game for four years now. My interest in photography started after I was tasked to document my local church events in pictures, as I’m part of the media team. As I was working, I discovered I was actually good at it.

“With the help of my creative friends I got to improve my craft over the last couple of years. God’s word inspires me, before anything else,” he shared.

God is the centre of his creative prowess.

“I’m also inspired by a lot of photographers that have been on this path way before me. I have a lot to learn from them, including the business aspect of photography.  I spend much on my tools of the craft as well as accessories compared to anything else.”

Whilst he rides solo he often collaborates with other photographers on big projects.

“I’m also part of Fusion Media Group (FMG). It’s one of the fastest-growing media startups in Zimbabwe, founded by Tatenda Mkandla aka MK. However, the bigger picture for me is to grow the Gideon Visuals brand beyond Zimbabwe, not only focusing on photography but brand consultancy and digital marketing,” he revealed.

Curated shoots or live events, Gidds has no favourite.

“I don’t really have a favorite spot for my photography. As long as we have lights and colors, I can start snapping, though some situations can be more challenging than others. But I love challenges, they get me out of comfort zone.”
