Jacaranda Culture and Media Corporation (JCMC), the new events organisers for the country’s most revered awards, the National Arts Merit Awards (NAMA) are walking the talk on a raft of measures they promised to bring to the event.

They said that hopefully next year they would host an art exhibition in the run-up to the event. But, the young vibrant team at JMCM has decided to start the exhibition this year.

From the 28th – 29th of February 2020, at the Harare International Conference Centre, the 19th Edition of the NAMA will feature a two-day international exhibition where artists from all genres, singers, dancers, writers, poets, sculptors, painters, producers and various cultural associations, will be given an opportunity to showcase their productions to the world.

“We believe that arts and culture must go beyond the awards themselves. The NAMA presents an unmatched opportunity for us to truly celebrate our amazing culture and export it to the world. These exhibitions are one of those platforms,” said NAMA Executive Producer, Napoleon Nyanhi.

The exhibitions will also feature entertainment from some of the country’s most exciting young artists including Nyasha David and Fusion 5 Mangwiro. The stage will also host theatre performances, traditional dance ensembles, poetry recitals, acrobatics, magic, and speed painting.

Artists interested in performing at the Exhibition stage are also encouraged to contact the event managers, to ensure that NAMA provides as many opportunities as possible for talent to be unearthed and promoted. Admission into the NAMA Exhibition is free of charge.

In addition to the exhibitions, the new event managers will also be hosting an Artist Forum, where international and local speakers and artists will be invited to speak on various issues affecting the development of arts and culture globally, and how Zimbabwean artists can earn a living from their talents.
