He was one of the top comedians in 2014/15 when the art form became a force to reckon with in the country via platforms such as Simuka Comedy, Bang Bang Comedy Club and Shoko Festival.

He alongside the likes if Clive Chigubu, Simba The Comic King, Doc Vikela, Michael K and Carl Joshua Ncube would take turns to rapture the lungs of many innocent Zimbabweans every time they got an opportunity to engage with them.

It came as no surprise that he was selected as the host of one of the most historic comedy show in Zimbabwe in 2015, The Anne Kansiime show which saw a mighty 4000 plus people filling up the HICC.

Two years later, Q Dube won the best comedian of the year gong at the NAMA’s.

Sadly, in the very same year, Zimbabwe’s economy started to melt and platforms for showcasing the art form shrunk drastically.

Q had one option to stay in Zim and find other things to do or pursue his career in foreign lands.

He chose to migrate. Landing in South Africa in 2017 he did not know what was going to be his fate but clutching on to faith he stepped out and three years later it’s been a good run for the lad

“I left in 2017 after I felt that there was nothing more I could do in Zim,” he said.

“I was in fear but had to and still have to conquer those fears as its the only way to discover what I’m capable of. You don’t know how strong you are until being strong is the only option you have,” shared Q.

Since landing in Mzansi to date, the comedian has performed at some of the biggest gigs in South Africa. He is slowly penetrating the African market as he is also found brushing shoulders with some of Africa’s finest.

“To be honest just the fact that I’m now counted and trusted as a funny comic among giants is a highlight on its own. Appearing on TV and on Showmax was not bad too,” he expressed.

One of his recent achievements off stage is landing jobs with advertising agencies. Coffee lovers in the rainbow nation must have seen one of Q’s adverts for Nescafe.
But how did he get that role ahead of other hotshots in South Africa,

“I just went for an audition and next thing I got the call. Lol! I am really trying to make inroads in the TV industry and hopefully end up on big productions.”
The bubbly fellow also shared his plans for 2020 or maybe not.

“My plans are a secret at the moment but performing more around Africa is one of the major plans most definitely. Let’s just watch the space,” remarked a coy Q.
