Being regular followers of Kudzai Sevenzo’s inspirational “Get Lifted” Sunday morning programme on ZiFM Stereo, we were quick to notice that she was not on air this last Sunday, and didn’t hear a reason why she was not present. We quickly found out without that she has left the station.

Sevenzo is the latest in a number of DJs who have left Zi Fm Stereo which has been operational for five months. The Hitman, Hosea Singende, Fred Zindi and Cindy Munyavi have also parted ways with the station.  We understand that their contracts were not renewed.

We bumped into Kudzai early in the week and she confirmed that she had indeed resigned from ZiFM and was now focusing on her music and acting career. “I just felt that this being a new year I need to focus on my first love, which is music, and also on my acting career,” she said.

The programme she hosted on Sunday mornings focussed on giving people positive upliftment and inspiration.

Sevenzo said that she is working on a new film. This is after her success as the protagonist in the Rumbi Katedza directed award-winning drama, “Playing Warriors”. She is also working on a new album, which she says is scheduled for release at the end of the year.

In March she has a tour of Denmark, where she will perform at various shows.

Sevenzo was also on radio earlier this week, on the StarFM Breakfast Club, being interviewed about a huge clean up event that she’s taking part in at the weekend. The event, called The Big Clean, will take place on Saturday, January 26, 2013, at 1:30pm.

Volunteers will meet at three places, the Harare City Library, 4th Street Bus Terminus and Market Square, to clean up different sections of the city. Sevenzo is a celebrity ambassador for the Proudly Zimbabwean Foundation, which is organising the event, assisted by the With Love Foundation.
