#ZIMBOITA It may have been the morning of the Workers’ Day public holiday, but that didn’t stop HIFA-goers from getting out of their seats and boogying along with the cross-cultural quartet, ZimboIta.

The group which comprises of two Zimbabweans and two Italians, deftly blends different musical styles, and manages to create a unique sound using marimba, mbira, bass guitar, percussion and keyboard instrumentation.

Lead vocalist and percussionist, Blessing Chimanga, leapt off the stage, leaving his marimbas and djembe for the chance to serenade or dance with women in the crowd, which resulted in him throwing a free CD and a kiss to the hand of one energetic lady who got the dancing started.

Children, adults, and elderly alike couldn’t keep their heads, hands and feet still during this energetic and varied set.

If you missed their performance on Thursday, make sure you catch ZimboIta at the Lays Global Stage on Saturday, 3 May at 12:30pm.
