With resident South African Idols judge, Somizi Mhlongo out for probably the rest of season 17 as he deals with some domestic affairs, producers of the show have decided to bring in guest judges every week to assist Unathi Nkayi and Randall Abrahams run the show.

On Friday DStv revealed that Idols SA fans should brace themselves for an exciting line-up of celebrities, who are set to feature on the show.

The first of these celebrities was Amapiano hit sensation Duduzile ‘Lady Du’ Ngwenya.

She featured in the show on Sunday evening, giving some very interesting reviews of each performance.

Not as dramatic as Somizi but her composure and understanding of music made her a perfect fit for the show.

Her views were not too different from those expressed by both Unathi and Randall.

Performances on the night, which was the first set for the top 16 finalists were quite good.

Though we have seen fierier deliveries in other seasons, there are a number of promising acts that lit up the stage – so much so that even Randall was mesmerized.

This coming Sunday sees the other half of top 16 finalists battling it out ahead of the elimination round to determine the top 10 acts.
