Curation of riveting shows was a hallmark that the gods appeared to have reserved for the Harare International Festival of the Arts in Zimbabwe.

However, it appears things have shifted in the spiritual realm as organisers of the Jacaranda Music Festival are not just giving revellers a memorable experience but very rare performances too.

Jacaranda Music Festival which kicks off tonight and is headlined by many local and foreign acts such as Mokoomba and Ringo Madlingozi has a sweet twist to it this year.

Jah Prayzah will for the first time ever, perform with the band of the late Dr Mtukudzi, The Black Spirits.

This performance slated for Saturday afternoon will see Jah Prayzah who used to share the stage with Tuku at several local and international gigs, sing hits by the late National Hero.

Zimbo Jam has it on good authority that Jah and the Black Spirits have been locked up in rehearsals for the better part of the week preparing for this gig.

“It is an honour for Jah Prayzah to be selected by the organizers of the festival to take up such a role, backed by the Black Spirits band,” said Jah Prayzah’s manager, Keen Mushapaidze.

“Tuku did a lot of things for not only the entertainment industry but the nation as a whole. So for us to have a platform to pay tribute to such a great man is a humbling experience.”

Mushapaidze further stated that as Jah Prayzah approaches this gig, he does so with uttermost gratitude as the shoes he is expected to fill are way too big for him.

Besides the Jah and Black Spirits factor, attendees to the festival will also have another rare moment tonight as hotshots from the urban grooves era take to the stage in the session dubbed Houz of Gruvz.

This session will see acts such as Roki, Mafriq and Kelvin Vito taking to the stage. Other acts set to perform tonight are Sylent Nqo, Ammara Brown and Transit Crew amongst many others
