Kusina Mai is probably the best house/amapiano track Jah Prayzah has released to date. The only other track we think has the firepower to compete is Boi Boi.
He tried something with DJ Tira prior to the release of his album, Maita Baba but the track titled Tocheka, whilst it is a decent offering lacks the venom when compared to Kusina Mai.
Kusina Mai a collaboration of Master KG, Wanitwa Mos, and Jah Prayzah is yet another thought-provoking delivery on the same wavelength as Jah’s sobering track, Kwayedza.
Emotionally laden and thought-provoking, Kusina Mai is more than a jam. It’s the reality of many Zimbabweans being interpreted in rhythms and melodies.
As many Zimbabweans are living in the country on a daily basis in search of green pastures, they will resonate with the message in the song.
Indeed, some are finding the going tough as they have nobody to laugh at within their native language – everything is just too foreign.
They cannot even sing along to some of the songs that will be played in the subways on the trains or the bus as they will be disconnected from that culture.
For those that go to the land of the king, they are in a better space as they can easily adapt to the English ways and philosophy given that they were once our colonial masters.
The same cannot be said for those going to places such as Germany or China where language is a serious barrier and one has to first undertake studies to be synchronized into the system.
