Currently flying high with his new tape, ‘Gafa Life’, dancehall kingpin, Winky D has triggered a new trend among Zimbabweans as many folks have stepped out to do covers of his hit track ‘Disappear’.
There is nothing really new with this phenomenon. People do covers of hit tracks world over, but in Zimbabwe this level of hype is a first.
Yes, people have done covers of songs by legends such as Tuku, Mukanya and Chiwoniso amongst many others but the excitement around Winky D’s track is just unmatched.
Tariro neGitare has also come in with her sweet acoustic version, whilst rising Zimbabwean cover girls, Us Two have come up with a dazzling acapella version of the track.
Then to prove how infectious the track is, there is also a Roman Catholic version of the track which comes with a laid back tempo and choral vibe which is popular in music from the old time church.
